Hello World’s First Gathering: Work in Progress!

Hello World! We have a blog now ~ Huge thanks to the always talented Jeremy Tani for making this happen. What better way to kick off our first blog post than by talking about our very first gathering!
We wanted to create a safe space where our community could come together to geek out and eat snacks. Thus, Work in Progress was born.
Our first gathering took place on Wednesday, August 14, in Highland Park. Dee Foster, a beautiful soul and the owner of Meadow Fig, welcomed and hosted our gathering. The event sold out within days, and we’re so thankful for our community’s support!
Our speakers for the evening were Matheo Cadena, David Tucker, and Sarah Wong. Matheo shared how he integrates AI into his process, Tucker walked us through a project he completed at Mattel, and Sarah tugged at our heartstrings with her upcoming zine project that honors her family.
My heart was so full seeing all the familiar faces from our community and welcoming so many new ones. As a professor, it was particularly special to see my students interacting with some of my friends from the industry.
Work in Progress is a space for ALL creatives—designers, illustrators, bakers, chefs, everyone!
Our next event is Wednesday, October 23, at Meadow Fig. It’ll be spooky-themed, so costumes are welcome! With only 45 seats available, be sure to grab yours. See you there! ~
