An ookie-spookie Work in Progress! 🎃

On Wednesday, October 23, we held our second Work in Progress gathering at Meadow Fig, and it was another night full of creativity and inspiration!
This month, we had three incredibly talented speakers:
- Katherine Newman – A graphic design student at Mt. San Antonio College, Katherine showcased her brand identity project, Mane, a curly hair care line. She shared with us her thoughtful market research and user insights, aiming to address common curly hair frustrations with a community-based approach and education. Follow her journey here.
- Davon McMillian – Founder of his design studio, Mednokta, Davon inspired us all with his story of “failing upwards” and leaning into his niche. His journey to starting Mednokta was full of insights for anyone finding their own path in design. Check out his original work on his website and Instagram.
- Mark Redito – Technologist, artist, and community designer, Mark shared his journey training his own music AI model, giving us a look into the possibilities and limitations of today’s music AI. Follow Mark on Instagram for more on his cutting-edge work.
We learned so much from each of our speakers, and we’re incredibly grateful for the time and passion they shared with us! 🙂

Since it’s October, we had an “ooky spooky” theme, and of course, costumes were encouraged! Everyone showed up in style, with some seriously clever costumes (Hrant, we’re still laughing – LOL).
A huge thank you to our amazing community for showing up and selling out this event, and an extra shoutout to Dee Foster and the team at Meadow Fig for welcoming us back.
If you missed out, don’t worry – we’re doing it again on December 11! Tickets are available now, and we can’t wait to see you there!
